Shri Ram Charan Ji Maharaj

Shri Ram Charan ji Maharaj {Saturday-February 24, 1720 –Thursday-April 5, 1798  (Māgh Shukla 14, 1776 - Vaisakha Krishn 5, 1855 Vikram Samvat)} is a founder of unique religious tradition in India called “Ramsnehi Sampradaya”. He initiated, illustrated and preferred the Nirguna (transcendent) Bhakti over Saguna (Absolute) Bhakti. He initiated and tried to eliminate "Show", “Blind Faith”, “Hypocrisy” and “Misled” existing in the Hindu Religion and Preferred to worship Name of GOD over GOD, to not get involved in false "Show" activities.

Birth and Childhood of Shri Ram Charan ji Maharaj

Swami Shri Ram Charan ji Maharaj was born at his maternal village in Sodha (Shursen) on February 24, 1720 (Saturday-Māgh Shukla 14, 1776 Vikram Samvat). His father's name was BakhatRam (Bhagatram)  Vijayvargia (Gotra-Kapdi) and his mother's name was Deoji ( Devhuti). There (Parents) were living at Banwada village near Malpura, Rajasthan. His Childhood name was "Ram Kishan Vijayvargia". He started having interest to know GOD and Religious things since his childhood. He had a good knowledge of different languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Pharsi and Sanskrit during his studies. He studied all main Hindu scripture like Ramayan, Mahabharat and Bhagavad Gita with the help of others.

Working as a Divan of Jaipur

Parents of Shri Ram Charan ji Maharaj had identified his intentions towards GOD in his early age but they wanted him to get married and live a normal life. His parents forced him to get married. He got married to Gulab Kanwar from Chandsen Village. He became Patwari after marriage and worked with intelligence. After some time contemporary King of Jaipur(Amber) Jai Singh II of Amber got to know about his good work and offered him to be Divan of Malpura Branch of his territory.

Vairagya and Leaving Home Forever

He started to lose interest in Materialism after his father's death in the year 1743 and got to know about the forecast of Bhringi Saint about his destiny. He also saw a dream on same night, in which he saw that one Saint saved him from drowning in a river. Next day, he got permission from his family indirectly to leave home forever and started his journey towards the way to know GOD and finding a perfect spiritual Guru in 1808 Vikram Samvat.

Finding Spiritual Guru Near Shahpura and afterward

He started his journey towards South by keep asking the people about the Saint he saw in dream by explaining what he would be look like. At last he found one Saint "Shri Kripa Ramji" in Dantada village near Shahpura, Bhilwara. He became disciple of Saint Shri Kripa Ram ji Maharaj and started follow him. He did 9 years of Tapasya by living in the command of  Saint Shri Kripa Ram ji Maharaj. During those 9 years, people have seen many miracles which were commonly known among the local people. He also became very popular for his unique Nirguna Bhakti. He used to visit many places and used to explain his experience and advised people to eliminate "Show", “Blind Faith”, “Hypocrisy” and “Misled” existing in the Hindu Religion.

Formation of Ramsnehi Spiritual Tradition

He came to Bhilwara in 1817 (Vikram Samvat) and selected one lonely place in Mayachand ji ki Babdi  for Tapasya. By this time, he had reached to the extreme level of Tapasya and reaching on the way to Nirvana. In the same year (1817 Vikram Samvat), disciples of Ram Charan ji Maharaj formed "Ram Snehi Sampradaya" ( Ram Snehi Spiritual Tradition). In present time, Ramsnehi Sampradaya has four monasteries. All are in Rajashtan State of India. They are in the following cities:

1. Banswara, Rajasthan

2. Sodha, Rajasthan Bhilwara,

3. Rajasthan Shahpura, Rajasthan

Way of worship and belief

Ramsnehi believe in the Name of God (Ram) and do not believe in Idolatry. Ramsnehi only follows the some simple and easy defined rules. Ramsnehi just do Darshan of the Chair of current Acharya and do respect of all the monks. Ramsnehi remember the name “Ram” (a name of the Lord). Three main pillars of the ideology are:


1. Have Name of God in Heart.

2. Have mercy of each living being.

3. Ready to give service to anyone who needs it.
